Fitzroy Community Garden (Atherton Gardens Estate)

Community Garden with kitchen area will be available for community gardeners and the broader community for food related events and celebrations.

What's it all about?

The Fitzroy Community Garden was opened in the late 1980′s and was developed around an existing landscaped seating area. The garden has since grown considerably and was completely refurbished in 2008. The garden has a diverse membership including Hmong speakers, Vietnamese, Chinese, Turkish, Afghani and many newly arrived peoples from Africa. The pizza oven, food preparation area and shelter make it ideal for large gatherings. During 2012-13 we will be working in partnership with residents and local estate workers from the Department of Human Services to build a new indoor kitchen facility adjacent to the garden. This new kitchen area will be available for community gardeners and the broader community for food related events and celebrations.
